Jenny Heath was a dental nurse until her builder partner Dylan convinced her to help him build their dream home together. "It is not what I thought I would do at all," she said. "I actually ended up loving it." She enjoyed the work so much she signed up for a carpentry certificate and in November, the couple finished construction of their five-bedroom, three-bathroom home in Palm Beach on the Gold Coast. Beaming with pride, she said they built the house "from the ground up": Digging holes and pouring concrete; putting in the footings, frames and support beams; building the deck; putting on plasterboard and cladding; laying the flooring and installing the windows and doors.  A 70-year-old woman has pleaded guilty to recklessly laundering more than $400,000 in an elaborate criminal scheme that ultimately targeted other lonely women. The Southport District Court heard Gold Coast woman Elizabeth Ruth Mak was "expertly manipulated" into helping an organised crime syndicate after meeting a man online.  A group of teenage boys sit around a room, guided through a breathwork and mediation session, followed by an ice bath plunge.  It's not a fancy wellness retreat, rather, a not-for-profit charity built to help disengaged youths get back on track.  Steve*, 19, is part of the cohort, currently halfway through a 10-week program.  He said he grew up in care, but by the time he reached his teenage years, he fell into the wrong crowds, doing the wrong things. "I know to leave that life behind, there's nothing there," he said. Read More: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-02-23/ice-baths-meditation-help-troubled-youth-crime-everything-suarve/102010324

The Star Entertainment Group has posted a $1.26 billion loss for the first half of the 2023 financial year, driven by fines and major losses at its Sydney casino.
