Gold Coasters urged to “get out in droves” as lockdown is lifted

 Gold Coast businesses are breathing a slight sigh of relief, with the city’s lockdown set to be lifted at 6pm tonight – right in time for the weekend.

While it’s good news for locals, there’s still a massive hole that’s been left by interstate tourists who were expected to flock to the city for the school holidays.

Tourism operators on the glitter strip were hit hard with cancellations from Sydneysiders last week, and this week’s South East Queensland lockdown only made things worse.

Gold Coast car dealer fined for second odometer tampering

 A Gold Coast car dealer has been busted for tampering with the odometer of a car that he sold. The Office of Fair Trading took Christos Spiro Tsalapataris to court where he was ordered to pay $5,000 for the offence. Southport court heard that Mr Tsalapataris, who traded as GC Car Wholesale, purchased a 2011 Mitsubishi Triton from a Southport motor dealer in June last year for $6,100.
