New Northern Gold Coast police station officially opens

 A brand-new state-of-the-art police station has officially opened its doors in Pimpama, providing a much-needed surveillance boost to the Northern Gold Coast. The 24-hour facility has employed 36 police officers, including one senior sergeant and four sergeants. Minister for Police and Corrective Services Mark Ryan MP says it is an extraordinary investment in policing on the Gold Coast. Sculpture unveiled at Pacific Fair ahead of Gold Coast Film Festival

 A sculpture which celebrates 20 years of the Gold Coast Film Festival has taken centre-stage at Pacific Fair Shopping Centre. SWELL commissioned Blue Mountains artist Kate Moore to create the piece titled ‘Storyteller’ for this year’s event. “Storyteller is a representation of the camera that pays homage to film, the artwork of vibrant, animated and flamboyant characters that pop up within the industry and idolisation of the artists, cinematographers, writers, producers, actors and audience alike,” said Ms Moore. Over 1000 Gold Coast properties without power

 More than 1000 homes and businesses on the Southern Gold Coast are currently without power. Around 1,160 properties in Tugun have been affected, while an additional 6 in Currumbin Waters are also impacted. The power outages were caused by a tree falling on power lines along Toolona Street in Tugun. Energex crews are on the scene working to fix the issue as soon as possible.
