Whale caught in shark nets on the Gold Coast freed

 A whale that became entangled in shark nets on the Gold Coast has now been freed.

The sub-adult humpback whale was spotted by beachgoers off Currumbin early this morning.

Local John Gordon was among those who alerted authorities before paddling out to the whale.

He said the whale did not look in a great way.

“I suspect it’s been caught through the night because it’s not frantic, it’s almost running out of gas,” Mr Gordon told Seven.

Gold Coast car dealer fined for second odometer tampering

 A Gold Coast car dealer has been busted for tampering with the odometer of a car that he sold. The Office of Fair Trading took Christos Spiro Tsalapataris to court where he was ordered to pay $5,000 for the offence. Southport court heard that Mr Tsalapataris, who traded as GC Car Wholesale, purchased a 2011 Mitsubishi Triton from a Southport motor dealer in June last year for $6,100.
