Gold Coast Mayor says Queensland's casino culture problem could be fixed by building another one

 A second casino on the Gold Coast is the answer to stamping out bad cultural practices within the industry, according to the Gold Coast City Mayor Tom Tate.

"Monopolies never provide the best environment for consumers, whether it is airlines, supermarkets, resorts or casinos", Mr Tate said. 

The Queensland government sought expressions of interest for additional casino licences for the Gold Coast and Cairns in 2018 but that process was halted in July 2020.

Gold Coast car dealer fined for second odometer tampering

 A Gold Coast car dealer has been busted for tampering with the odometer of a car that he sold. The Office of Fair Trading took Christos Spiro Tsalapataris to court where he was ordered to pay $5,000 for the offence. Southport court heard that Mr Tsalapataris, who traded as GC Car Wholesale, purchased a 2011 Mitsubishi Triton from a Southport motor dealer in June last year for $6,100.
