 The weather bureau is warning hot conditions across Queensland today could cause fires in the south and severe thunderstorms in the north.  School-leavers have been applauded for their behaviour on the first weekend of Schoolies, but police say "toolies" are causing problems in Surfers Paradise. Of the 67 people arrested in the area over the weekend, only 18 were school-leavers.  A former south-east Queensland police officer has been sentenced to 120 hours of community service after pleading guilty to helping his daughter breach the state's COVID border restrictions last year. Former senior constable Robert William Eickenloff was charged with misconduct in public office for escorting his daughter into Queensland in September last year, when the border was closed. Sunshine Coast woman Hannah Scarlett Turner was charged with possession of less than one gram of a dangerous drug after being stopped by patrolling officers while walking her dog at a nature reserve at Tewantin in June.
