Queensland police officer sentenced for helping daughter cross border during COVID closure

 A former south-east Queensland police officer has been sentenced to 120 hours of community service after pleading guilty to helping his daughter breach the state's COVID border restrictions last year. Former senior constable Robert William Eickenloff was charged with misconduct in public office for escorting his daughter into Queensland in September last year, when the border was closed. Eickenloff met Maddison Eickenloff, 22, just across the border in New South Wales, where she was waiting for him in her car, the sentencing hearing in the District Court in Brisbane heard today.  A Queensland woman who faced court on drug charges despite having a prescription for medicinal cannabis wants other unsuspecting users to be aware of the strict laws around carrying the substance. Sunshine Coast woman Hannah Scarlett Turner was charged with possession of less than one gram of a dangerous drug after being stopped by patrolling officers while walking her dog at a nature reserve at Tewantin in June. According to court documents, police were at the Butler Street location after receiving complaints about people "smoking drugs in the area". Gold Coast Mayor says Queensland's casino culture problem could be fixed by building another one

 A second casino on the Gold Coast is the answer to stamping out bad cultural practices within the industry, according to the Gold Coast City Mayor Tom Tate.
