A Gold Coast couple has become almost $5 million richer, but they nearly hung up on the person delivering them the ‘dream come true’ news. They’ve taken home the Set for Life division one prize of $4.8 over the weekend, but admit they thought it was just friends pranking them. Gold Coast car dealer fined for second odometer tampering

 A Gold Coast car dealer has been busted for tampering with the odometer of a car that he sold. The Office of Fair Trading took Christos Spiro Tsalapataris to court where he was ordered to pay $5,000 for the offence. Southport court heard that Mr Tsalapataris, who traded as GC Car Wholesale, purchased a 2011 Mitsubishi Triton from a Southport motor dealer in June last year for $6,100. Wildlife 'win' as Queensland government moves to acquire land for Currumbin eco-park from developers

 Almost 150 hectares of southern Gold Coast land is to be transformed into one of the largest eco-parks in the country through compulsory acquisition from the defiant owners. The state government has today announced it will begin the process to acquire 148 hectares for the Currumbin Eco-Parkland — locally known as Martha's Farm or Martha's Vineyard. The government is working to strike a deal with the commercial owners, who have a council-approved plan for a 348-residential lot, a marine precinct and artificial lake.  Hello everyone, I have moved a couple of times but never paid attention to inspecting the property before moving in. Luckily, the rental space didn’t have any major issues. However, I paid the price for my negligence when I relocated last month. There were several problems in the property and but I signed the lease agreement and moved in. Motorcyclist killed in horror Gold Coast hinterland crash

 Police are investigating whether a motorcyclist who was killed in a crash in the Gold Coast hinterland this morning was deliberately struck by another car. The rider of the bike, a 28-year-old man, is believed to have been involved in a verbal altercation with two men outside a correctional facility at Numinbah Valley around 10.10am. The man then took off on his motorbike and rode southbound along Nerang Murwillumbah for approximately three kilometres before crashing. While it’s good news for locals, there’s still a massive hole that’s been left by interstate tourists who were expected to flock to the city for the school holidays. Lockdown changes announced after Queensland records three new COVID-19 cases

 Queensland's snap lockdown will be extended for Brisbane and Moreton Bay after the state recorded three new locally acquired cases of COVID-19. Today's cases include the partner of an airport worker who also works in baggage collection at Brisbane International Airport. The other two cases are a mother and daughter from Brisbane's east who have been in the community while infectious.
